From September 22-29, 2026, AmCham Germany asked its member companies about the current state of Germany as a business location, investment factors and possible policies to boost economic growth.
Key findings are as follows:
- Sixty percent of respondents call for a comprehensive reduction of bureaucracy at the federal and state levels in order to quickly and effectively improve Germany’s attractiveness as a business location
- Every second member company feels that an accelerated pace of reforms is the most important measure to quickly boost economic growth in Germany
- Just half of surveyed member companies rate Germany’s attractiveness as a business location over the next twelve months as constant, slightly positive or very positive
- A disproportionate bureaucratic burden is considered to be the biggest obstacle to investment or to offering products and services in the German market, according to 52% of respondents
