Andreas Lämmel, MdB, visits AmCham Germany’s Energy & Climate Committee

On June 5, 2019, Andreas Lämmel, MdB, met with industry representatives from AmCham Germany's Energy & Climate Committee to discuss current and upcoming policy projects, most notably the regulatory implementation of the WSB commission's recommendations and the Climate Protection Act. Both legislative initiatives have been the subject of intense political and public debate in the past months.

Andreas Lämmel, who was one of three parliamentary representatives at the WSB commission, shared his views on the BMWi's recently published Eckpunktepapier concerning the regulatory implementation of the commission's recommendations. Lämmel stressed that it was crucial that the coal region's structural transformation advocated by the commission must not be pushed forward at the expense of other regions in Germany. The group further discussed the importance of thinking beyond a coal exit strategy and keeping an open mind when it comes to finding solutions to reduce GHG emissions and thus meeting climate goals.

We thank Mr. Lämmel for his time and look forward to continuing the conversation in the future.
