Alumni Meeting of AmCham Germany's Delegation Tour of the US

Guest Speakers: Ted Dean, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services at the International Trade Administration, US Department of Commerce and Dean C. Garfield, President and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI)

On September 22, participants of AmCham Germany’s delegation tours to the United States from 2014, 2015 and 2016 reunited at an Alumni Meeting in Berlin.

Ted Dean, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Services at the International Trade Administration of the US Department of Commerce, kicked off the dinner discussion with an update from the US, focusing particularly on the newly established EU-US privacy shield and the current status of its certification process.

Dean C. Garfield, President and CEO of the Information Technology Industry Council (ITI), gave a brief overview on the US presidential candidates’ positions on ICT issues in his keynote.

Further topics touched upon during the lively dinner discussion included cyber security and the US perspective on Brexit from a digital industry point of view.
