Position Paper Transatlantic Impulses: A Call for Action

In a recent article for the Aspen Institute Germany, AmCham Germany calls for a new agenda for transatlantic trade and investment. Both sides, the US and Europe, must equally explore new ways to define common interests and challenges. The position paper on what a new agenda for the transatlantic trade and investment partnership can look like has been published in March.

The transatlantic economic partnership is on stable footing and has been able to counter the turbulent last few years and the strained political relationship with robust and trusting relations. Nevertheless, we must not take the success of the transatlantic economy for granted. Transatlantic businesses expect a new agenda for the trade and investment partnership between the EU, Germany and the US. It must be based above all on the strong will to cooperate on both sides of the Atlantic.

Shaping a new agenda for the transatlantic trade and investment partnership can only succeed if Europe and the US work together. Businesses on both sides of the Atlantic expect the EU and the US to actively reach out to each other, seek dialogue and work together to develop solutions to the challenges of the 21st century. Both sides must equally explore new ways to define common interests and challenges. Germany should take a leading role in Europe in revitalizing transatlantic relations.

It's time to act, now!
