Keine neuen Industriezöllle lässt Wirtschaft aufatmen
"Als deutsch-amerikanischer Wirtschaftsverband ist AmCham Germany sehr erfreut über das positive Fazit des Treffens seitens der EU-Kommission mit dem amerikanischen Präsidenten Trump. Es ist wichtig, dass der offizielle Gesprächskanal zwischen den USA und der Europäischen Union nun wieder offen steht. Die Entscheidung, vorerst keine neuen Industriezöllle zu erheben und die Sonderabgaben auf europäische Stahl- und Aluminiumimporte bzw. die europäischen Gegenzölle zu überprüfen, stärkt das Vertrauen in die europäisch-amerikanischen Handelsbeziehungen. Die Zusage seitens der USA, vorerst keine Zölle auf Autos zu erheben, lässt insbesondere die deutsche Wirtschaft aufatmen.

AmCham Germany begrüßt die angedeutete weitere Abschaffung von Handelshemmnissen und engeren Handelsbeziehungen in anderen Marktbereichen sehr. Geregelter freier Handel statt Schutz des eigenen Marktes stärkt die europäische, amerikanische und deutsche Wirtschaft. Weitere Gespräche sind notwendig, aber ein gemeinsames Bekenntnis zu freiem Handel und der Zusammenarbeit ist nach den Wochen der Konfrontation ein sehr wichtiger Schritt. Wirtschaftspolitik muss den Interessen der Verbraucher und Unternehmen dienen - nun sind wir wieder auf dem richtigen Weg dorthin."

AmCham Germany welcomes rapprochement in US-EU trade dispute Further talks are necessary, but a joint commitment to free trade is an important step after weeks of confrontation Frankfurt, July 26, 2018 - Frank Sportolari, President of the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany (AmCham Germany), commented on the results of yesterday's meeting between US President Trump and European Commission President Juncker as follows:
No new industrial tariffs relief for the German economy
"As a German-American trade association, AmCham Germany is very pleased with the positive outcome of the meeting between European Commission President Juncker and US President Trump. It is important that the official channel of dialogue between the US and the European Commission is now open again. The decision not to impose new industrial tariffs for the time being and to review the tariffs on European steel and aluminum imports as well as EU counter tariffs strengthens confidence in US-EU trade relations. The US Administration's pledge not to impose customs duties on cars for the time being is a particular relief for the German economy.
Free and rules-based trade strengthens the European, American and German economies
AmCham Germany very much welcomes the indicated removal of further trade barriers and the closer cooperation pledged in other market areas. As opposed to protectionist policies, free and rules-based trade strengthens the European, American and German economies. Further talks are necessary, but a common commitment to free trade and cooperation is a very important step after weeks of confrontation. Economic policies should serve the interests of consumers and businesses - now we are back on the right track."
