Digital Policy Committee Breakfast on the CDU/CSU's Ideas for a New Digital Strategy

Digital Policy, Innovation, Data Protection and Data Security in the Spotlight

On December 11, 2019, the first Digital Policy Committee breakfast hosted by the new committee chairs Christine Wenzel, Nina Keim and Guido Brinkel took place at Microsoft Germany’s Berlin Office. Our political guests Nadine Schön, MdB, and Tankred Schipanski, MdB, elaborated on the CDU/CSU‘s ideas for digital policy, innovation, data protection and data security. They presented the “Digitalcharta Innovationsplattform: D”, a proposal for a new digital policy strategy of the CDU/CSU. Digital technologies and applications are the central driver for far-reaching changes in all areas of life. Digitalization opens up new scopes of action for business, society and for each individual. The CDU/CSU’s goal is to shape this digital change in a responsible and future-oriented manner and to anchor continuous digital change in society. In addition, the digital policy of the CDU aims to be future and solution-oriented and they look forward to using the strengths and opportunities of digitalization without trivializing risks or problems.

We appreciate the time Nadine Schön and Tankred Schipanski took to answer all our committee members’ questions and look forward to continuing the dialogue on all digital policy issues in the future.
