NextGen Alumni Get-Together 2021

On November 12, we welcomed NextGen alumni and members from the current cohort at the Deutsche Bank Park, in Frankfurt am Main.

This past Friday, on November 12, AmCham Germany hosted its annual NextGen Alumni Get-Together. The Alumni Get Together provides the opportunity for NextGens to reconnect with other alumni and network with the current cohort. Further, the goals of this event is to connect all the NextGens to share their experience in the program and dive further into a transatlantic topic. After having provided a virtual meet-up last time around, this year, we were able to welcome many NextGen alumni and members from the current cohort at the Deutsche Bank Park, in Frankfurt am Main.

Highlights of the day program

We were thrilled to welcome Consul General Norman Thatcher Scharpf, who gave the attendees a valuable input on transatlantic affairs and expectations going forward with the new German government. His participation provided the attendees a direct exchange with a senior U.S. representative to learn about how their professional experience directly affects transatlantic affairs and the importance of the transatlantic partnership.

We would like to thank our Rhine-Main Regional Committee Chair, David Knower, for attending the event and welcoming our NextGens, as well as giving first hand examples of the opportunities to contribute at a regional level at AmCham Germany.

Sustainable finance as theme of the NextGen Alumni Get-Together

The overarching topic of the day was sustainable finance in the context of transatlantic business. In this vein, our co-host, Deutsche Bank AG, provided a short presentation on sustainable finance, presented by Marek Winter, International & Sustainable Lending. Further, the program included a transatlantic panel on the subject. Our NextGen Steering Committee Member, Sandra Horst, moderated the panel. The panel was comprised of Christiane Conrads, LL.M., EMEA Real Estate ESG Leader, PwC Legal Deutschland, Dr. Philipp Aeby, Co-Founder and Member of the Board, RepRisk AG and Dr. Uwe Trafkowski, Head Legal Germany & Austria, UBS. The panel included insights and exchange from a legal, business and financial perspective to give an overview on the challenges, complexities, and outlook on the topic.

A warm thank you to the Steering Committee for its support in planning this event and co-conducting parts of the day program. Thank you to all of our attendees for participating. This event would not have been possible without the generous support of our host, Deutsche Bank AG. Thank you for providing a unique location for our NextGen event.
