On November 21, 2023, we had the honor of welcoming guests from various industries to our second Thanksgiving event of the season at the Hyatt Regency Düsseldorf for an evening filled with great speeches and inspiring conversations.
Our Regional Chapter Chair Frank Jørgensen kicked off the event by expressing gratitude to all attendees, including families, friends, and members of AmCham Germany, as well as the NRW Committee, for their support throughout the year.
In his remarks, U.S. Commercial Consul Jay Carreiro then underscored the historical significance of Thanksgiving and highlighted the close collaboration between organizations like ours, governments, and other partners. He also emphasized the importance of North-Rhine Westphalia as a hub for innovative and creative businesses.
Similar sentiments were echoed by Dr. Tobias Traupel, Head of Division European, Legal and Foreign Trade Department; Ministry of Economic Affairs, Industry, Climate Action and Energy of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia; who highlighted the significance of the partnership and friendship between NRW and the U.S. He also remarked on the ongoing NRW USA Year 2023/2024, launched in June, which reflects the robust transatlantic presence in the region.
After the opening remarks, Sviatoslav Marynin, Blau-Gelbes Kreuz e.V., delivered a keynote speech about the current situation in Ukraine, highlighting the importance of values such as freedom and democracy.
Our Regional Chapter Chair Theresa Winkels closed the event and also announced the upcoming New Year's Reception on January 16, 2024, in Düsseldorf.
