On January 26th, 2023, the AmCham Germany Chapter Saxony came together for a Regional Top Level Meeting with Michael Kretschmer, the Minister-President of Saxony, at the State Chancellery of the Free State of Saxony in Dresden.

During the exchange, Kretschmer underscored the strength of Saxony as a location for investors with “modern infrastructure, bright minds, and a unique education and research landscape.” More than 130 U.S. companies have close ties to the Free State of Saxony, through either investments or successful operations. Kretschmer stressed his confidence in Saxony as a valuable and robust business location, especially with the United States as one of the state’s closest trading partners, and the importance of further transatlantic cooperation.

In addition, AmCham Germany President Simone Menne underlined how vital such dialogue is in today’s climate. She emphasized how honored AmCham Germany is to have such a long-standing relationship with Minister-President Kretschmer and the State Chancellery of Saxony. “Exchanges like these are paramount in maintaining transatlantic dialogue, identifying areas of potential cooperation, and generating growth and innovation on both sides of the Atlantic.” She continued that export data highlights the importance of U.S. trade and investment in the Free State of Saxony, and looks forward to how this cooperation can be further developed and expanded.

Thank you to Minister-President Michael Kretschmer, the State Chancellery of Saxony, AmCham Germany Regional Chair Prof. Dr. Heribert Heckschen, and the AmCham Germany Chapter Saxony for facilitating such a fruitful and lively interchange.
