Frankfurt/M, Nov. 10 – At the 10th Transatlantic Business Conference, AmCham Germany’s President Bernhard Mattes officially introduced Bianca Bourbon, General Manager of Coca-Cola Germany, as AmCham Germany’s first Diversity Champion. President Mattes stressed the importance of diversity and inclusion for AmCham Germany. By nominating Bianca Bourbon as Diversity Champion, the Chamber seeks to foster a more open and inclusive environment and a more diverse membership base. Diversity Champion Bianca Bourbon recognized that important steps have already been taken to address diversity questions at AmCham Germany and she looks forward to advancing this issue.

Second Women’s Executive Lunch

During the conference, AmCham Germany hosted its second Women’s Executive Lunch. The Special Guest was Bianca Bourbon. She elaborated on her new role as Diversity Champion and gave insights into her personal experiences regarding the opportunities and challenges associated with diversity and inclusion throughout her career. Ms. Bourbon emphasized that in order to move forward on diversity and inclusion matters, it is indispensable to also engage male colleagues.

Simone Thomsen, General Manager of Lilly Deutschland GmbH, and Jacqueline Fechner, Managing Director of Xerox GmbH, joined the panel, which was moderated by Isabel Hochgesand, Managing Director Supply Chain DACH of Procter & Gamble Germany GmbH. The panelists agreed that numerous male and female change agents for diversity and inclusion are needed to make progress. The limited number of female panelists and the predominant male audience at AmCham Germany’s events were identified as one of the challenges that need to be tackled. The ultimate goal, however, is to implement diversity as a way of thinking.
