On January 26, 2024, AmCham Germany and Orrick hosted an Expert Webinar on "Cyber - Lessons Learned in 2023 and New Threats." The panel discussed the current threat situation from different perspectives, such as the increasing number of cyber-attacks and blackmail damage. Areas for learning were identified and it was agreed that there is more need for action than ever in terms of cyber security.

The outlook for 2024 outlined planned legislation in Europe and the resulting changes for companies. Major challenges are seen in the rapid implementation to achieve greater cyber resilience and professionalization on the defensive side. Companies, software providers, cyber forensics experts, law enforcement agencies and legal experts will have to work even more closely together in future to contain the cyber threat.

A big thank you to our speakers: Dr. Christoph Bausewein, Assistant General Counsel, Data Protection & Policy, CrowdStrike; Lars Lau, Cybercrime Division, Federal Office of Criminal Investigation Germany; Ralf Wigand, National Security & IT Compliance Officer, Microsoft; and Dr. Christian Schröder, Partner and Head of EU Cyber & Privacy Practice, Orrick
