Corporate & Business Law Committee Discussing European Banking Supervision and Recent Developments

Guest Speakers: Dr. Denise Bauer-Weiler, Member of the Management Board of UBS Europe SE, Lukas Altstoetter, Entity Governance Department of UBS Europe SE.

Recently, AmCham Germany’s Corporate & Business Law expert group held a meeting to discuss the European banking supervision, in the wake of recent regulatory developments and their effect on financial institutions in the EU. The meeting was led by Dr. Denise Bauer-Weiler, Member of the Management Board of UBS Europe SE and responsible for Compliance, Regulatory & Governance, and Lukas Altstoetter from the Entity Governance Department of UBS Europe SE.

The meeting aimed to provide an overview of the current regulatory landscape in the EU, with a focus on market access, the new EU anti-money-laundering authority, and regulatory expectations on ESG. The potential effects on "third country banks," including financial institutions from the United States, were also examined.

Our members had the opportunity to gain valuable insights into the challenges and opportunities facing the banking industry in the EU. The speakers provided an in-depth analysis of the regulatory developments and their potential impact on banks, including the challenges and opportunities for U.S. banks operating in the EU.

The meeting of AmCham Germany’s Corporate & Business Law expert group provided a valuable opportunity for our members to come together and to gain a deeper understanding of the current regulatory landscape in the EU and how it is impacting financial institutions. We would like to thank Dr. Denise Bauer-Weiler, Lukas Altstoetter and all the attendees for their valuable contributions to the meeting.
