Business After Hours with Lufthansa

The Future of Air Travel: How Lufthansa is Transitioning Towards a More Personal & Sustainable Aviation Model

On June 19, 2023, AmCham Germany’s Regional Chapter Rhine-Main and its member Lufthansa hosted a Business After Hours event titled "The Future of Air Travel: How Lufthansa is Transitioning Towards a More Personal & Sustainable Aviation Model" at Frankfurt Airport.

During the evening, AmCham Germany members also received the unique opportunity to try out Lufthansa's new premium cabin product "Allegris" and were able to take an exclusive seat in the new innovative First, Business and (Premium) Economy Class.

In a moderated discussion with the Regional Chapter Chair David Knower, Lufthansa Groups’s Senior Vice President Global Markets & Stations Frank Naeve provided engaging insights and also discussed how Lufthansa is transitioning towards a more personal and sustainable aviation model.

The Lufthansa Group has been intensively involved in researching, testing and using Sustainable Aviation Fuels (SAF) and pioneered the world's first long-term testing of SAF in regular flight operations. In order to achieve the CO₂ emissions savings targets by 2030, not only SAFs play an important role. Mr. Naeve explained that Lufthansa is increasing its investment in fuel-efficient aircrafts of the latest design. This will enable Lufthansa to operate the most economical, quiet and fuel-efficient long-haul aircrafts currently available. On average, new aircraft types only need around 2.5 liters of fuel per passenger and 100 kilometers of flight distance. This is around 30 percent less than previous models. The purchase of new aircraft and the modernization of the existing fleet is one of the main leverages for greater climate protection and the achievement of climate targets.

After experiencing the new cabin product "Allegris", in which Lufthansa is investing more than 2.5 billion Euro, and the moderated discussion, members of AmCham Germany brought the evening to an end by sharing their experiences with Lufthansa.
