AmCham Germany Hosts Congressional Delegation Led by US Representative Nancy Pelosi

Transatlantic Reception in Berlin with Members of the US Congress

On Friday, May 5, 2017, AmCham Germany hosted a Congressional Delegation led by Rep. Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Leader of the House of Representatives, during an exclusive reception in Berlin. Leader Pelosi was joined by a bipartisan group of US Representatives that included Reps. Jim Sensenbrenner (R-WI), Eliot Engel (D-NY), Jim McGovern (D-MA), Betty McCollum (D-MN), Judy Chu (D-CA), Joyce Beatty (D-OH) and Pramila Jayapal (D-WA).

Leader Pelosi praised the private sector for serving as a motor for job creation and economic growth. In addition, Rep. Sensenbrenner stressed the vitality of the EU-US Privacy Shield for transatlantic commerce. Both reaffirmed the importance of strong German-American ties and Germany's role as a strategic partner and ally, and they also emphasized how crucial the transatlantic charter is for the global economy and international security.

During the event, members and guests of AmCham Germany had the chance to discuss the political environment in Washington, DC, as well as current policy objectives such as US tax reform, health care legislation and transatlantic economic relations.
