Cem Özdemir is one of the most prominent members of the Greens, and the first Turkish originating member of parliament in Germany in 1994. He was active in all functions of his party including its chairmanship for 10 years. He also was a member of the European Parliament and a Transatlantic Fellow.
He gave a lively and convincing speech on the necessities of the business world, the importance of environmental matters and their relations with the business world, as well as a necessary look into the international arena. The luncheon took place with some 70 participants at the Steigenberger Graf Zeppelin, which also sponsored the event.
Regional Chairman Prof. Dr. Gerhard Wegen particularly expressed the solidarity of AmCham Germany with Cem Özdemir and other politicians who were very seriously threatened these days. He reassured Cem Özdemir of the continued support of AmCham Germany in this regard.
