Lunch Discussion with Candida Wolff, Executive Vice President of Citi

Topic: A US Perspective on the US Government

In cooperation with Citi, AmCham Germany hosted a luncheon featuring a US perspective on the current US administration. We were honored to welcome Candida Wolff, Executive Vice President at Citigroup, Inc., as the speaker.

As Head of Global Government Affairs, Candida Wolff oversees Citi's government affairs globally, including US federal and state relations. She has extensive private and public sector experience and has served as the first female Assistant to the President for Legislative Affairs from 2005 to 2007 where she had the primary responsibility for formulating and advocating the President's agenda in Congress.

During her speech, Ms. Wolff provided a brief policy outlook about the US administration's planned tax reform. She also made recommendations about what to look out for regarding President Trump's stance on trade. There was a trend of international cooperation shifting to the form of bilateral instead of multilateral agreements, she said.

In the following Q&A session, the participants discussed issues such as the German trade surplus, the President's relationship to Congress and health care reform.
