Christine Gregoire, Governor of Washington State, Visits AmCham Germany

Fred B. Irwin, President of AmCham Germany, greeted Governor Christine O'Grady Gregoire at Citigroup at a reception on June 16, 2005. Governor Gregoire was accompanied by a delegation representing the state of Washington.

The group was able to have a more personal exchange on account of its size. After getting to know each other, representatives from AmCham Germany, the state of Washington and the U.S. Embassy discussed topics centered on investment in Germany and the state of Washington.

A lighthearted conversation ensued over coffee and drinks, whereby the participants formed plans for cooperating together more closely in the future. After Governor Gregoire presented her interests and concerns, the group's suggestions and input gave the Washington delegation a general picture of Germany as an investment location as well as ideas for attracting potential investors to Washington. The emotional connection between Americans and Germans cannot be stressed enough in maintaining and creating transatlantic bonds.
