"Green Hydrogen – A Game Changer for the Transition to a Low Carbon Economy in the US and Germany?"

(Please note: The remarks and discussion will be in German)

Green hydrogen is currently receiving a lot of attention in politics, business, and the media on both sides of the Atlantic and continues to gain further momentum. Internationally, as well as nationally, it is considered key to the transition of industries and the global economy to a low-carbon future and to enabling ambitious climate policy goals by 2050. In the US, President Biden has promised to ensure that the market will be able to access green hydrogen at the same cost as conventional hydrogen within a decade as part of his clean energy plan. Germany is also heavily investing in green hydrogen to help end the country's reliance on coal. So what is the story behind green hydrogen? What makes it different from conventionally produced hydrogen? Why is the transition to a low carbon economy so important? And which framework conditions in Germany and the US are necessary for green hydrogen to meet the expectations placed on it in the long-term?

Linde has been harnessing the power of hydrogen for over 100 years and, as a global leader in the production, processing, storage and distribution of hydrogen, is also at the forefront of the transition to green hydrogen. As a leading industrial gases and engineering company in the world, Linde supports customers and industry partners by providing high quality solutions, technologies and services, which are making them more successful and helping to sustain and protect our planet.
