On 11 January, 2018, AmCham Germany held its annual New Year's Reception in Erfurt at the Staatskanzlei Thüringen. In his keynote speech, Wolfgang Tiefensee, Minister of Economic affairs for Thuringia, stressed that the US is Thuringia's most important economic partner abroad. Therefore partners from politics as well as business are committed to further deepen the strong transatlantic ties between the two regions.

The guests were also greeted by AmCham Germany Vice President Frank Sportolari, who emphasized the stability and strength that the transatlantic economy had shown in the past year, even in the face of political uncertainty and said that that is good reason for a positive outlook on 2018.
