The certificate of origin is intended for goods manufactured in the US and determined for re-export from Germany to a third country.

Normally a certificate of origin is issued for American products directly in the United States. However, should this normal procedure have been neglected and the product is in customs within Germany, then this document can be issued from the American Chamber of Commerce in Germany at our office in Frankfurt am Main. In order to fulfill your request, we need the following documents:

• application form ("Antragsformular") for a certificate of origin for the EU (you will receive it from your nearest IHK branch);
• cross out "European Community" on the form in order to make it valid for the United States. There are no US-specific forms. Please note, "Country of Origin" should always read United States of America and not USA;
• fill in the certificate of origin together with the pink duplicate. Please do not forget to stamp and sign it;
• attach a copy of the original invoice. The invoice must contain the company's logo and has to be marked clearly as an invoice;
• the certificate fee of 30,00 € is to be paid in advance by check.
