Government Relations Committee Meeting with Christian Lindner, MdL

Berlin, June 2, 2016: Christian Lindner, MdL, Bundesvorsitzender der Freien Demokraten & Vorsitzender der FDP-Landtagsfraktion NRW, met with AmCham Germany’s Government Relations Committee today.

The committee, chaired by Dr. Wolfgang Dierker, GE Germany, and Gerrit Riemer, thyssenkrupp AG, invited Mr. Lindner to cover a variety of topics and issues concerning Germany’s competitiveness as a business location, its geopolitical role as well as the goals of his political party in the run up to the German federal election in 2017.

Mr. Lindner shared his views on the state of the European Union, the future and necessity of strong transatlantic relations as well as the benefits of and challenges to free trade. The roundtable participants also discussed public resentment against the agreements currently under negotiation, CETA and TTIP, the opportunities of digitization and the necessity of innovations to address the challenges of digital transformation. The lively and enthusiastic dialogue also touched upon healthcare and energy policies.
