US Interns Meet with Government Officials in Berlin

US-German Internship Program: AmCham Germany and BridgehouseLaw organized a 2-days tour to Germany's capital

After two months at their internships, 24 American students gathered for the annual US-German Internship Program Get-Together in Berlin. Students spent two days in Germany’s capital meeting state and national representatives from the American and German governments, and exploring the city.

Sieglinde von Wasielewski from the Representation of North Rhine-Westphalia welcomed students with a presentation on NRW, the state’s ties to America, and how they work within the federal government.

On Friday, students met with senior diplomats at the U.S. Embassy for a discussion of current political and economic topics, including US-German relations, and current TTIP negotiations. Among them  Minister-Counselor for Economic Affairs, James Boughner.

The interns also visited the Reichstag building, complete with a tour of the Saal der Abgeordneten where they got a closer look at the German political process in Berlin. The tour informed the interns about the functions and composition of the Parliament, as well as facts about the history and architecture of the Reichstag, including the glass Kuppel.

Established in 2010, the US-German Internship Program‘s purpose is to provide educational internships to US-based university students abroad. The program is organized by AmCham Germany and BridgehouseLaw.
