The laureate for the 25^th Annual AmCham Transatlantic Partnership Award 2011 is the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation. Bill Gates, Co-Chair and Trustee of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, accepted the award on behalf of the foundation.

The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation aims at eradicating extreme poverty and poor health in developing countries, engages in various initiatives in the fields of education, and funds innovative ideas in this context. The Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation is furthermore involved in a number of cooperative projects with American and German businesses and organizations and therefore exemplifies the spirit of the AmCham Transatlantic Partnership Award.

Sabine Christiansen, Managing Director & TV-Presenter, TV21 GmbH Fernsehproduktion, presented the laudatio of Dr. Michael Otto, Chairman of the Supervisory Board of OTTO Group, for the 25^th Annual AmCham Transatlantic Partnership Award 2011.

The award ceremony took place within the framework of a gala luncheon at the Ritz-Carlton Hotel in Berlin on April 6.
