AmCham Germany in München and Bayern
Munich is the capital city of Bavaria (Bayern). It is located on the River Isar north of the Bavarian Alps. With 1.35 million people living in the city, Munich is the third largest city in Germany, after Berlin and Hamburg.
After American occupation in 1945, Munich was completely rebuilt following a meticulous and — by comparison to other war-ravaged West German cities — rather conservative plan which preserved its pre-war street grid.
The Oktoberfest is one of Munich's most famous attraction drawing millions of people to visit its beer tents ("Bierzelte") and fairground attractions.
Munich is considered a global city and holds the headquarters of Siemens AG, BMW, MAN AG, Linde, Allianz, Munich Re among serveral other international companies. It is also the largest publishing city in Europe.
